The Kurilian Bobtail is a natural breed of cat originating in Russian Far East. Coming from Kuril Islands, the island of Sakhalin and Kamchatka peninsula, these cats are well adapted to severe climate. Kurilian Bobtails are well muscled medium size cats with semi-cobby body, they have powerful legs, and a short pompom tail. Although these strong cats look wild, they have excellent health and well-balanced character. They’re loving, gentle and outgoing cats that love to be caressed. Kurilian Bobtails do well in families with other pets, as well as families with young children. Kurilian Bobtail can be both long and short hair. They were accepted for Championship status by World Cat Federation (WCF) in 1995 and Federation Internationale Feline (FIFe) in 2004. Breeders in the United States and around the world are currently working to advance this bread in The International Cat Association (TICA) |
